‘Labour’s manifesto isn’t a new chapter – it’s the final chapter in a book the people of Wales have already closed’ – Plaid Cymru

Responding to Labour’s manifesto launch, a Plaid Cymru spokesperson said:

“Labour’s manifesto is not a new chapter. It is the final chapter in a book the people of Wales have already closed.

“The people of Wales will rightly be wondering today why, after 27 years in government, many of these promises have not already been delivered.

“Their headline pledge focuses on what they will not do rather than what they will do. Promising not to increase income tax is hardly bold when Plaid Cymru has already made clear that we will not raise the Welsh rates of income tax. The difference is that we pair that commitment with a credible and ambitious programme for government.

“Labour’s numbers on new hospitals simply don’t add up. The lack of clarity on plans to expand childcare and deliver ‘same day’ mental health services is unacceptable for a party that has been in government for so long.

“Labour’s promise to end homelessness by 2034 has zero credibility given that they failed to deliver on their previous pledge to end it by 2026.

“This election is the most important in the history of devolution, with a clear choice between Plaid Cymru’s hope and Reform UK’s division. Labour is a sideshow.

“Plaid Cymru has a clear plan to cut waiting times, raise standards in our schools, roll out universal childcare and strengthen support for Welsh businesses.

“Labour’s time is up. Only Plaid Cymru offers the new leadership and ambition Wales needs to fulfil its potential.”

  1. The smiling viper who will steal wales from the Welsh and give it to the third world.welsh will become the minority under this lunatic .

  2. Plaid are taking the disillusioned Labour voters for granted and assuming that they will automatically inherit the sennedd. This is not a good situation.

  3. Vote Plaid;get Liebour. Vote Liebour;get Plaid. Vote Greens;get idiots. Vote Lib/dems;get clowns. Vote Reform;get a Party for Wales.

  4. Strange that plaid have been holding hands with you for 27yrs.

  5. Sole agenda is delusional separation followed by delusional green ideas, followed by spending all our money on translation, persecuting motorists, restricting driving days. This is North Korea in a different colour. Backwards… let me think .

  6. The same as you always do,suck up to them, when they are in power. Back everything they do or say. Then change your mind when it’s election time. Reform UK Wales are the only sensible party.

  7. What a real irritant Plaid is,such negative ambitions:we’ll be out of UK out of NATO and out of EU. he thinks he can get us nearer to rejoining EU by opposing greater defence spending, what a numbskull!
Has not got a clue about anything that can work for Wales.
Plaid Cymru also blocked a ‘legislative consent motion’that would pave the way for a specific law to combat those threatening or actual doing violence against retail workers! 11 March,Shame in them.
Plaid excuse? They don’t want powers moving to Westminster? Does he really think a shop assistant assaulted in Conwy really cares about where a law is rubber stamped.
There are 114000 retail workers in Wales who need greater police support now.
The USDAW union is dismayed by their attitude so am I !

  8. Oh Ron ya two faced git. Up their arse one minute, slagging them off the next yet you backed nearly every fiasco they created &yet, here you are trying to gain voters. Not a chance. VOTE REFORM

  9. Rach Williams so you support the slaughter of animals without being stunned first? Which is nothing but barbaric and cruel. That says a lot about you and every other lefty loon!

  10. Rach Williams, what’s a sky high mortgage? Banks 110 billion debt from labour in 2010? Half a trillion spent on Covid…are you old enough to remember Covid? Plaid will tax you more…remember you heard it here! I don’t think people are thick, but many are economically illiterate “ babes”. I won’t lower my standards to insults…but feel free to vent if you want to.

  11. Rach Williams you must have a very short memory! When the tories stepped in after Leibour there was a note left “NO MONEY LEFT” ! You leftards are always quick to blame the tories. In Wales,26 years of Leibour ruin all supported by Pleid. Money wasted and supported by Pleid on 20mph,Cardiff Airport, cancellation of the M4 relief road, purchase of a farm for a Greenman festival that never happened! The worse standard of education in the country, the worse NHS in the country! And you want to vote a party that wants to invite every illegal that arrives in a rubber boat, agrees with Halal meet, and force everyone to speak Welsh or you’ll be treated like a second class citizen! Unbelievable!

  12. Rach Williams,27 yrs of labour/plaid has destroyed wales…worst NHS,worst school education,worst employment figures,worst roads,worst transport network,…but hey it’s your choice!

  13. Well at least they have published theirs

Still nothing from Plaid Cymru, afraid of scrutiny or are they know having to run it past their likely ”New”coalition partners

  14. If Plaid wins and gets independence and their nation of sanctuary,it’s the Welsh people that will have to pay for it .We have no industry in Wales to cover this idiot’s plans ..

  15. A failed BBC reporter with no relatable experience or qualifications trying to convince you because hes Welsh he can run the complexities of a nation. Don’t believe anything this charlatan says, hes propped up liebour and will say anything to get your vote.
