The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery will not be performing at next month’s Royal Welsh Show following the tragic death of one of its members.
The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) has released the troop from its commitment to perform the musical drive at the show in Llanelwedd. The decision follows a tragic incident at the Royal Windsor Horse Show last month when Lance Bombardier Ciara Sullivan fell from her horse and died.
The RWAS has sent its condolences to the family of Lance Bombardier Sullivan, her friends and fellow soldiers. “We fully understand the circumstances and look forward to welcoming The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery back to Llanelwedd in the very near future,” said a spokesman.
Despite this change to the programme, the show will feature a exciting line-up of main ring attractions.
Attractions include the Paul Hannam Quad Bike Stunt Show, the Shetland Pony Grand National, the RAF Falcons Parachute Team (weather permitting) on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Hawkeye Falconry UK, Meirion Owen and the Quack Pack and the Regimental Band of the Royal Welsh.
There will also be a special Wales YFC display celebrating their 90th anniversary on the first day of the show, which runs from July 20-23. A packed schedule of world-class livestock and equine competitions will feature as usual.
