Residents, businesses, and visitors to Neath Port Talbot are being encouraged to share their views on new maps which set out proposed and existing walking, wheeling and cycling routes in the area.

Neath Port Talbot’s Active Travel Network Maps (ATNMs) have been updated following an earlier round of public feedback in 2025 to highlight where improvements were needed.

The council is now inviting residents, visitors, businesses and other stakeholders to review the proposed network before the final map is submitted to the Welsh Government for approval.

The maps will help shape future investment in local infrastructure to enable people to make safer, more accessible and better-connected everyday journeys.

Cllr Wyndham Griffiths, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, Transport and Connectivity, said: “We want to help people in Neath Port Talbot to make their everyday journeys in a healthy, safe and sustainable way. Whether travelling to school, to work or to the shops, it is important that people feel they have a choice.”

“This consultation gives people and businesses the chance to share their views on where changes are most needed to enable this to happen. These maps will then inform our applications for dedicated funding for Active Travel in Neath Port Talbot”

The 12-week statutory consultation closes on 21st September 2026.
