Fresha data reveals almost one in five children’s haircuts are booked within 24 hours, while Manchester sees a 76% late-summer surge

Parents are leaving children’s back-to-school haircuts until the final days of the summer holidays, with new UK booking data revealing a sharp rush for appointments just before pupils return to the classroom.

Analysis of live booking data from Fresha, the beauty and wellness booking platform, found that children’s haircut bookings were 36% higher during the final two weeks of summer than during an average summer week in 2025.

By comparison, adult haircut bookings increased by just 8% over the same period, suggesting the spike is being driven specifically by the back-to-school rush rather than a wider late-summer increase in salon appointments.

The rush reaches it’s peak just days before September.

During the week beginning 25 August 2025, 38,767 children’s haircut appointments were booked across the UK, making it the single busiest week of the summer and putting demand 65% above the summer weekly average.

Once children returned to school, bookings fell by more than half.
