A FRIENDLY gym and sports session with added benefits is back in Penyrheol Leisure Centre next week.

Residents have the chance to get themselves a free Health MOT and try a whole range of classes with the added extras of nutritional advice and support from friendly staff.

As well as free fitness class sessions, health checks and healthy eating demonstrations  there’ll also be free activities for children including table tennis, athletics, basketball and obstacle course circuits.

Cllr Mark Child, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said: “The last time Penyrheol Leisure Centre ran this event, they were inundated with people interested in taking part.

“It’s because the offer is really the complete package. The event is not simply about exercise, it’s about being healthy and that’s a combination of healthy exercise and healthy eating.”

The event is being run by Active Swansea. All those who attend will have the chance to become gym members and receive a free induction in addition to a free month’s membership.

Penyrheol Leisure Centre’s free healthy evening runs from 5.30pm to 8pm on Monday September 14.

Check out www.activeswansea.com for more information and a full timetable. Spaces are limited, so if you wish to book onto any of the free sessions then call Penyrheol Leisure Centre on 01792 897039.
