As AI speed cameras continue to be rolled out UK roads, drivers are being reminded how important it is to stay focused on roads to improve safety and avoid fines. Motor expert, Louise Thomas at Confused.com car insurance comments:

“AI speed cameras will help catch drivers who break the law when behind the wheel, such as driving without wearing a seatbelt or for using their phone. This new technology aims to help improve road safety, protecting both road users and pedestrians from dangerous driving.

“Our research reveals that nearly half (48%) of UK drivers recognise that AI speed cameras will help make roads safer. But another 1 in 5 (21%) also think they’re an invasion of privacy. And although some might have some reservations, the majority see its importance as the cameras could help to crack down on distracted driving.

“Distracted driving, such as using your phone while driving, could result in a fine and up to 6 points on your licence. But it could also result in near misses or accidents and even being banned from driving altogether. And if you are fined, the amount could depend on your annual income, which band your speeding fine falls into and how much faster than the limit you were driving. Using our speeding fine calculator will help you to work out how much you might owe if you are caught.”
