Care2 : Primark Petition

Primark has made a big deal of its ethical trading practices in recent years as the clothing industry’s lax supply chain standards have been on full display. But apparently, they’re more talk than action. The Bangladesh factory that collapsed last week, killing more than 500 people, made Primark clothes.

Demand Primark take real responsibility for worker safety in its supply chain.

This isn’t the first large-scale factory accident that’s led to hundreds of deaths, and so long as clothing companies stand idly by, it won’t be the last. This one Bangladeshi factory made clothes for more than 30 companies. It’s going to take leadership from the top to ensure unsafe, unethical conditions actually change.

Talk is only effective if it’s followed by real action. Tell Primark to start taking concrete steps to clean up its supply chain and make sure none of its products are made by workers in unsafe factories.
