Carmarthenshire Young Members were with Nia Griffith MP, and Councillors on Saturday 9th November in Llanelli town centre, supporting Ed Miliband’s call to Freeze Energy Prices.
There was a great turn out in Llanelli of residents concerned about the ever increasing energy costs, so decided to support the freeze of energy prices by signing the petition to freeze the prices, as it’s a major concern for local people.
Residents brought up the issue that some of them had to ration their finances to be able to keep themselves warm. The saying of “ eating or heating” was also brought up and one resident admitted she had to decide whether to put the heating on last week, when we had the storms, or have a something to eat. We cannot let this social injustice continue, as its affecting us all.
Carmarthenshire Young Labour and Nia Griffith MP, collected a number of signatures from Llanelli residents, and hope you will continue to support the ongoing issue.
Nathaniel Williams from Carmarthenshire Young Labour said:
“With the cost of living increasing constantly, the people of Carmarthenshire and Llanelli, are struggling to pay the astronomical prices the big energy companies are trying to charge us. If we stand together, we can take on the energy companies. Local people are feeling the pinch, and that is why we Carmarthenshire Young Labour are supporting our communities and the Energy Freeze.”
