Visitors at Llanelli Library are invited to join in the celebrations to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

Readings from some of Shakespeare’s most popular and familiar works will be presented by Llanelli’s Phoenix Theatre Group in a promenade performance on Thursday, March 17. Entitled from “Bard to Verse”, there will be performances on the hour every hour from 11am with the final performance starting at 4pm.

Each performance will last approximately half an hour.

The council’s executive board for library services, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “The Phoenix Theatre Group has performed several times for us and we are delighted that they have been able to fit in this celebration of Shakespeare’s works as part of their very busy schedule. This is the third event that the group has supported the county library services.”

Next month the group will be presenting its major spring production, Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy “A Chorus of Disapproval” at Y Ffwrnes.”

Pheonix Theatre Group director, Noel Rees said: “It’s a very informal event and members of the public are welcome to stay for the whole selection or they can drift in and out.”
