A victory over Newport Gwent Dragons in last weekend’s Judgement Day clash kept Scarlets’ play-off chances alive as they prepare to head to Limerick this Saturday to take on Munster.

The ‘make or break’ game last weekend means the Scarlets are still in with a chance of making the top four but will need to keep a keen eye on the scoreboard at the Liberty Stadium as fourth place Ulster take on the Ospreys.

Reflecting on last weekend’s victory Gareth Owen said; “It was massively important for us. It was make or brake for our season.

“We’re looking forward to this weekend now and hoping we can do a job out in Munster. It’s going to be a tough one. We’ve been to a lot of tough places this season and I think we can mix with the biggest.”

An improvement in the side’s away form will play its part this weekend with the squad able to take confidence from previous victories on the road says Owen; “We definitely take confidence from wins on the road, particularly the one against Ulster. If we bring what we brought that day we can beat anybody, especially away form home.

“If you just look back to the first game of the season, we set our stall out especially for away games.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s clash he said; “There’s no point playing for mid-table or bottom of the league, there are no prizes down there. As a professional sportsman that’s what you want to do, win medals, win trophies. This is why we’ve worked hard from pre-season all the way up to now.

“We want to really push on again now. Weeks like this is why we all play rugby.”
