Most people think that community work isn’t much of value, or rather there isn’t much they can do to improve or contribute to their community. They believe that it entirely is up to the chosen representatives to decide what is best for their community, and they trust that they formulate the best path for their development. However what most people fail to realize is that a community cannot run or function at its best without the involvement of its member . The leaders they have chosen have no role or value until and unless each member abides by the rules set by them and chooses to contribute in every manner he can.

Today we explain to you why getting involved with your community is a healthy exercise and why does even small contribution from your end does matter.

1. Your involvement is Always Crucial

You might think otherwise, but leaders of your community do require substantial inputs from your end for effective and efficient decision making. They require you to put forward your opinion which they will evaluate and take action upon. In today’s world community engagement plays in huge roles in deciding the stakeholders, bringing in investments within the community as well as ensuring that the community progresses as one. This time no longer is just about gathering information from the people in the community, but now you as a part of the community can ask about development, question the flow of transaction as well as have a two-way communication with the leaders of your community.

2. Allows Your Hobbies to Prosper

You might be working in a full-time job. However, it isn’t necessary that the job you are pursuing is also your hobby. You might be good at the art of let’s say a sport such as football. However, you are currently pursuing a job in engineering. Joining an NGO within the community let’s say which focusses on children education you can also pursue your hobby of playing and teaching soccer to younger children. It doesn’t matter if you teach them twice a week or five days what matters is that you are helping the children in the community grow. Everyone does have something to offer to its community all you need to do is identify that something and work towards bringing it to community table.

3. Helps in Better Decision Making

Usually, within a community, there are two types of individuals, one who are the leaders and plan something for betterment. Then there are the group of negative individuals who do not stand for what the leaders have planned. Usually, this leaves leader with only one set of perspective that is the negative one. However, if people like you and another friend of yours start getting involved, the leaders would know the perspective of entire community and not just the people who oppose. Getting the opinions of all will help them make a decision which is based on the opinions of mass and not just a few individuals who revolt against them.

4. You Start Becoming Aware

As soon as you start being involved in your community, you will begin to realize the problems your community faces. You will realize which sectors within your community do need an improvement and in what areas is your community already flourishing. This allows you to become aware of the people and society around you and helps you to decide in what manner you can contribute towards the development and growth of it.

5. Helps With Communication Skills

As you become involved with your community you start interacting with people, you meet new kinds of people. This interaction allows you some time to get to know the people and how to speak with them. Being a volunteer in an NGO, you will often meet thousands of people with varied attitude, style, and tone. Working for a good time, you will understand how you need to deal with this variety of people and trust us it would prove to be very fruitful in your professional life.

6. You Start Feeling Great

No matter what work you do, how little you contribute, over the period of time, when you see the results it sure would be satisfying. You could do work as little as cutting grass in gardens located within your community; you could do this on Sundays, however, once you are finished, and you visit this garden seeing happy children playing comfortably, it would be worth it, and it sure would feel good inside.

Therefore, do not stay away from community service just because you think it won’t matter. Instead, take up any initiative you think you would be able to cope with and work diligently till you achieve the results.
