Kondo-ing is the new, harsh act of dumping a significant other as soon as they don’t ‘spark joy’ anymore, but what happens if the joy fades before jetting off on a pre-paid holiday? Postcard Travel Insurance is one of the only providers to cover cancellation costs for holidaymakers who break up before they’ve even set off.

Traditional travel insurance excludes cancellation due to a relationship breakdown, meaning separated couples are often faced with a dilemma: a hefty dent in the bank account or a week of awkward small talk with the ex. Considering the average holiday to Europe costs around £700pp, the latter option is usually endured.

Postcard Travel Insurance is the only travel insurer to cover cancellation for any unforeseen circumstances, including a relationship break up, and have based their vast amount of cover on customer feedback. Postcard even promises to settle claims within 48 hours.

Sarah Page, Postcard Brand Manager, said: “Unexpected breakups are hard enough without the additional worry of what to do about that ‘romantic break’ you had planned. At Postcard we understand that unforeseen circumstances can have serious implications for holiday plans and bank balances, which is why we cover customers to cancel or cut short their trips for anything they could not have been expected to foresee or avoid.”
