ORR publishes regional rail usage numbers for Wales

The Office of Rail and Road has today published regional rail usage statistics for 2020-21.
Analysis of data from the rail regulator found:The total number of journeys for Wales was 5.1 million in 2020-21, which equates to 17.2% of the 29.9 million journeys made in 2019-20.The 3.5 million journeys within Wales equate to 17.3% of the 20.5 million journeys made in 2019-20.Wales recorded 1.6 million journeys to or from other regions, the equivalent of 16.9% of the 9.4 million journeys made in 2019-20.Most of these journeys were made to or from the South West (30.9%), the North West (22.6%), the West Midlands (20.2%), or London (16.8%).The full report can be found on ORR’s Data Portal and attached to this email.
