Wild adventures, quiet moments and creative experiences to appeal to the anti-hen trend – the rise of the conscious girls’ getaway

The county of Carmarthenshire is launching a new ‘Sisterhood’ campaignlooking to make its mark to be recognised as Wales’s go to county for girls getaways away from the crowds; an insider’s guide for women who are looking for more than a spa break tapping into the rise of the conscious girls’ getaway.

Sisterhood follows a national campaign from Visit Wales called ‘girl gang’ earlier this year sparked from data showing that for 2025 #GirlTrip has been viewed more than 7m times on TikTok over a three-month period. On Pinterest, “Girls Trip” has seen a 20% year on year increase as well as spawning millions of the ‘when the girls trip leaves the group chat’ memes.

It appeals to the growing trend of ‘girls gone mild ’where girls are turning away from Prosecco-fuelled weekends of old, looking for more wellbeing and connection focusing on their mental health, seeking out places for magical sound baths, yoga, learning new skills, as well as more conventional trips combining active adventures such as hiking, biking or kayaking with a great supper and a soak in a hot tub.

Carmarthenshire’s Sisterhood guide taps into this trend offering soulful, slow experiences for groups and how to bring your group together without breaking the bank, or opt for a preorganised group retreat.

Whether it’s just a few friends, a clutch of multi-generational women, or a much larger group, the new guide has all the ideas to inspire and make planning seamless.

For example an example price:  You can book a sisterhood break staying at The Cors Country House in Laugharne from ÂŁ299 per person for a three night break based on a group of 10 (staring five rooms) which includes a jewellery making session with Elen Bowen, a hour private group riding experience with Marros Riding Stables, a sound bath as well as a tea tasting with Tea Traders.

The Wild Kin

The guide also introduces Carmarthenshire’s ‘Wild Kin’, a collection of expert guides, makers, creatives and holistic practitioners who will elevate these group breaks working with a choice of locations and accommodations.

This gang of potters, painters, coastal foragers, horse whisperers, walking guides, makers and massage therapists can be weaved into any ‘Sisterhood’ stay.

This is the corner of West Wales blessed with an ‘off the beaten track feeling’; coastal, forest and mountain landscapes alongside bustling market towns and a wide choice space for groups of all sizes to stay and reconnect over laughter, shared stories and authentic experiences learning with local creatives and makers.

Also helpful, where the consensus is that the group is looking to fully immerse in a place, are the ‘Sisterhood Sorted’ stays, a list of suggested places that take the hassle out of all the planning. These may be specialist retreat centres (even an ashram) where you can join a group wellbeing experience, or several brilliant hideaways who will design and deliver a unique itinerary for your group.

The new guide features three geographical itineraries for inspiration on how to spend time in the county.  Each has a choice of places to stay from a snazzy three barn rental for 32, to small market town hotels, self-catering houses, guesthouses with views of the sea, or glamping pods with star filled skies overhead, as well as a series of suggested experiences lead by the ‘Wild Kin’ who are on hand to make these breaks extra special.

Sisterhood Curated Escapes

1)        Style, Spirit and Sisterhood – West Carmarthenshire

Strike out from cosy accommodation options in Carmarthen, Laugharne or Llansteffan and blend coastal foraging with river walks and castles. One day suggests a relaxing morning in the herbal steam sauna and swimming laps in the indoor infinity pool with views of the river Taf at Milk Wood House before connecting with the land through wine tasting and lunch at a local vineyard.

2)        Breathe, Bond and Belong – Central Carmarthenshire

Staying inland this itinerary combines countryside charm with the option of self-catering cottage stays with hot tubs, a hotel in Llandeilo or a riverside glamping pod. Pick up a picnic before hiking up to Llyn y Fan, a remote glacial lake set beneath the Carmarthen Fans. Experience unpretentious Welsh dishes with a friendly dinner at Y Polyn and book onto one of Elen Bowen’s jewellery workshops in Newcastle Emlyn.

3)        Laughter and Lifelong Connection – Coastal Carmarthenshire

Tapping into the playfulness of a seaside break this is the chance to walk, dip or fly a kite on the longest beach in Wales and refuel with fish and chips. Grab a paddle for a kayak or paddleboard session on Swiss Valley Reservoir before a warming sauna session at Sauna y Coed in the woodland there. Share some laughs with a visit to Pembrey Country Park where you can channel your inner child on Wales’s longest toboggan run or spend a few hours at Coaltown’s roastery perfecting your latte art together.

Just a few of many experiences

·        Beach ride – gallop along Marros Sands with Marros Riding Centre, guided by Hazel the horse whisperer

·        Craft your own bangle or pendant with Ellen Bowen, an expert jeweller who offers silversmithing full day workshops with lunch

·        Enjoy the taste of slow baking and deep conversationat Pitchfork and Provision where it takes 36 hours to make their sourdough.

·        Join Lisa Denison to weave your own sitting mat and then hike, pause and rest a while to soak in the wild landscapes.

·        Using sustainable materials, craft a beautiful brush under the guidance of Rosa Harradine. A full day of brush making is surprisingly physical so a hearty vegetarian lunch is included.
