Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service Team Completes Welsh Three Peaks Challenge

On 31 January, Firefighter Rhys Fitzgerald, alongside a small team from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, successfully completed the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge.

Rhys, based at Kidwelly Fire Station, was joined by Chief Fire Officer Craig Flannery, Tom Wass from Business Fire Safety, and Tanja Fletcher and Joel Freeman from Llandeilo Fire Station.

Despite wet and cold conditions and significant physical demands, the team completed the challenge in 15.5 hours, demonstrating exceptional determination and teamwork throughout.

Speaking after the challenge, Firefighter Rhys Fitzgerald said:

“The team’s commitment and resilience throughout the challenge reflected the values of the charities we were supporting. It was a powerful demonstration of teamwork, perseverance and purpose, proving that with the right mindset, even the toughest conditions can be overcome.”

The challenge forms part of Rhys’ wider series of charity challenges in support of Project Fire, raising funds for Mind, the Fire Fighters Charity, and the Nimsdai Foundation.
