The name Baobab Cymru combines the African tree of life – known as a gathering place where communities come together – with the Welsh word for Wales. Founder Adisa Amanor-Wilks chose the name to foster connections between Welsh and African cultures.

“The baobab tree is where people gather to eat, talk and share stories,” says Amanor-Wilks. “That’s exactly what we want to create here in the Amman Valley. African roots. Welsh home.”

The venue takes over premises previously occupied by Lemongrass Thai Cuisine and includes a coffee shop and community art gallery. The space is also available for private hire, groupbookings and event catering.
