The National Botanic Garden of Wales is inviting people from across Wales to take part in a special community ‘Have Your Say’ event aimed at helping shape the future of one of the country’s most treasured visitor attractions.
The Shape the Future event will bring together members of the public for a relaxed and informal morning of conversation over tea, coffee and cake, creating an opportunity for people to share their ideas, perspectives and aspirations for the Garden to help it evolve over coming years.
Participants are invited to come to the Garden and share feedback on a range of topics including:
– Accessibility and the visitor experience
– Connecting with community
– The Garden’s role in supporting health and wellbeing
As part of its commitment to serving communities across Wales, the National Botanic Garden of Wales is seeking honest feedback on how it can evolve to meet changing needs and expectations in the years ahead to ensure it is relevant and inspiring.
The Garden is particularly keen to hear from people who may not have visited the Garden before, as well as those who are not current or regular visitors.
The Director of the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Dr Lucy Sutherland said:
“This is everyone’s national botanic garden. We are wanting to listen to as many voices as possible and in particular we are inviting those people who haven’t visited the Garden or haven’t been for a long time. It is through listening to their perspective and truly understanding their views, that we can work towards making the garden more accessible and a garden for everyone.”.
The session will provide a constructive and welcoming environment where participants can discuss what matters most to them and contribute ideas that will directly inform the Garden’s future plans.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales hopes the event will encourage meaningful conversations about how the organisation can continue to grow as a place for people, nature, learning, wellbeing and community connection.
The in Garden sessions will be followed by an online survey that will allow people across Wales to shape the future of the Garden.
