Rugby club raises £500 for Carmarthenshire Special Care Baby Unit

Paul Kirk, Treasurer of Whitland RFC, presented a donation of £500 to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Glangwili Hospital on behalf on the club.

The funds raised at the Whitland v Crymych ‘Ladies Day’ match from a half time bucket collection and raffle at the clubhouse. The rugby club also made a contribution.

Paul said: “The Special Care Baby Unit carries out great work and has recently looked after the families of Whitland RFC former players Matt, Jess and Jonathan. Long may they continue their vital work.”

Sandra Pegram, Special Care Baby Unit Manager, said: “We are so grateful for this generous donation to the Special Care Baby Unit. It will enable us to provide services and activities over and above what the NHS can normally provide.

“It will make such a positive difference to experience of our patients and their families. A huge thank you from us all!”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We want to say a huge thank you Paul and Whitland RFC for their generous donation.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
