Peter and Janet James recently celebrated an incredible milestone and took the opportunity to raise funds for a cause close to their hearts.
The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in July, gathering all their friends and family for a garden party at their home.
Janet said: “Instead of gifts, we asked for donations to the Head and Neck Cancer Service and raised a fantastic £900.
“Peter received brilliant care at Merlin Ward, Glangwili Hospital in May 2019 where he underwent a laryngectomy operation. He also always received fantastic support from the Speech and Language Therapy Team at Glangwili.
“It was lovely to celebrate 50 years of marriage and also donate to a good cause. We would like to thank all staff on Merlin Ward, the Speech and Language Therapy Team and all those who donated.”
Anwen Butten, Head and Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, said: “On behalf of the Head and Neck Cancer Service, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the family for their generous donation.
“Their kindness is greatly appreciated, and we can assure them that these funds will be put to good use to support and benefit patients receiving care within our service. We would also once again like to congratulate them on their Golden Wedding anniversary.”
Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer, said: “We are very grateful to Peter and Janet James for fundraising for us during their anniversary celebrations. We wish you many more years of happiness together.
“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
