Coast Watch Wales is a partnership initiative designed to enhance the security of the Welsh coast line and identify vessels and individuals engaged in suspicious maritime and coastal based activity.
Dyfed Powys Police works together with Border Force, the Coastguard and the Royal Navy on this initiative. The overriding aim is to disrupt those engaged in criminal activity along our coastline and to continue to make the coastline and waterways of Wales a safe environment for people to enjoy.
“To that end, we are looking to members of the marine and coastal communities within our force area to report anything suspicious to us, no matter how small a matter it may seem,” said Inspector Lynne Harries.
“Boat owners, marine equipment retailers, anyone who has any dealings along our coasts, even dog walkers, you are all our eyes and ears out there and we are looking to you to provide us with the intelligence we need to protect our coasts.
“Suspicious activity could include witnessing night time signalling between vessels at sea and persons ashore, or seeing large vessels whether at anchor or underway being approached by smaller craft. It could be that you see items or people being landed in remote coastal areas by air or sea.
“If you think it’s suspicious, flag it up and get in touch.”
