RESIDENTS are being reminded that there are changes to bin collections over the festive period.
Collections are taking place on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve as normal, however there are no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.
This means that from Wednesday, December 25 to Friday, December 27, collections take place two days later than usual. So for example, if your collection is due on the Friday it won’t be picked up until the Sunday.
Then from Wednesday, January 1 to Friday, January 3, collections take place one day later than usual; so again if you’re usual collection day is Friday, your bins will not be collected until the Saturday.
With all the eating and drinking we tend to produce a lot more rubbish at this time of the year which is why it’s important to try and recycle as much as possible.
Please use your blue bags for plastic bottles, cans, cardboard packaging, wrapping paper and cards.
Unavoidable Christmas food waste such as turkey bones and vegetable peelings should go in your green food bins so that it can be taken for composting.
Please use your local glass bank to recycle any glass bottles and jars.
The recycling centres in Trostre (Llanelli), Wernddu (Ammanford), Nantycaws (Carmarthen) and Whitland are open 8.30am-12pm and Llangadog 10am-4pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. All are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Residents are being reminded that they can sign up to the council’s text messaging or email alert service for latest news including information on refuse / recycling collections. Text ‘sign up’ to 0789 2345678 or email direct@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
