From Figgy Pud to Santa Paws, it’s not Christmas without a Winter Warmer

Wales is producing some quality beers right now – and that includes the festive brews, too.   And luckily for lovers of Welsh ales , you can now pick up a Welsh Christmas beer box – called the 12 Beers of Christmas.

Offering 12 of the finest festive tipples, the selection has been handpicked by Neil Goodman at Wales Ales (the country’s only hand-delivered beer service), who is also a member secretary for his local CAMRA branch.

He said: “We wanted to carefully select 12 beers that would be representative of all corners of Wales.  We’re far more than just selling bottles, our passion is to promote these artisan brewers and give customers an alternative to the usual beers on supermarket shelves, and what better way than at Christmas, a wonderful time for a beer.”

Wales Ales 12 Beers of Christmas packs cost £26.49 and can be delivered along the M4 corridor.

So whether it’s a gift to a loved one or a treat for yourself, there’s some great Welsh beers to enjoy this Christmas.

This is what you’ll find in the festive box of beer…

It is Red Ale made with pale malt and generously hopped with two New Zealand hops for a distinctive fruity aroma and taste.

11. Dog’s Window – Santa Paws 5.6%

Bridgend’s newest brewery, inspired by the owner’s crazy Jack Russell called Bo who was adopted from dogs trust.  His favourite place is sunbathing on lounge windowsill watching the world go by.

Taking inspiration from a conversation with a friend, they wanted to do a seasonal beer but stay away from the anything with spices.  Not everyone likes mice pies or Christmas pudding, so what else was popular around Christmas?  How about a nice Black Forest Gateaux?  The base of the beer is a fairly traditional oatmeal stout with an extra touch of chocolate malt.  Added to this was cherry and almond to bring it all together to produce a Black Forest Stout called ‘Santa Paws’.

12. Monty’s Brewery – Figgy Pud 5.5%

Monty’s Brewery is based just a short distance from the ancient castle town of Montgomery, on the Powys/Shropshire border. They have more than sixteen regular, seasonal and specials brews.   Monty’s Figgy Pud is new for Christmas this year, a rich winter warmer packed with all the flavours of Christmas. Perfect to sit by the fire, put your feet up and enjoy!
