A Llanelli man has admitted to killing another man with two punches during a night out.

Jason Thomas, of Felinfoel Road, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on what should have been the first day of a trial at Swansea Crown Court on Monday, February 10.

The 40-year-old caused fatal head injuries to Liam Morgan Whittle when he punched him twice in quick succession on Sunday, March 25, 2023.

The court heard that the ambulance service called Dyfed-Powys Police to attend an address in Robinson Street during the early hours of the morning, where paramedics were trying to help Mr Morgan Whittle.

Witnesses had disclosed the 22-year-old had been assaulted by Jason Thomas, and so the flat was locked down as a crime scene. Thomas was immediately arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm, and officers later discovered there had been a disagreement between the pair – who were known to each other through a mutual friend – which resulted in the incident.

Sadly, Mr Morgan Whittle died shortly after arriving at hospital. With the evidence gathered by the investigation team, Thomas was charged with manslaughter.

He will be sentenced on March 3.
