On Sunday, 20th April, On-Call Firefighter Rhys Fitzgerald from Kidwelly Fire Station will be embarking on a 24-mile Easter Sunday Walk to train for his climb to the summit of Mount Everest later this year.
The walk will start at 8am from Kidwelly Fire Station and involve several rest stops along the way, including Llanelli Fire Station before finishing at Sketty Fire Station in Swansea.
Rhys is taking on these challenges to help promote the benefits of spending time outdoors and the positive effect it has on your mental and physical health and well-being, with the bonus of raising funds and awareness of three worthy causes.
Rhys is welcoming anyone that would like to join him along the way, and said:
āWhether you walk one mile or the full 24 miles, itās getting outdoors that matters! Come along and join this family fundraising wellness walk and get to know some of the firefighters that help keep the community of Mid and West Wales safe along the way!ā
Rhys is fundraising through GoFundMe, and all donations will be split between covering the cost of the Mount Everest expedition, as well as being donated to his chosen charities.
EVERYONE is welcome to join Rhys on his adventure, and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
