The UK’s top foodie hidden gems have been revealed, with a rustic Welsh inn taking the top spot.

One in three people are set to hit the road this summer, with a surge in road trips and scenic stop-offs, and now, new research by experts at Kia has uncovered rural restaurants across Britain that offer an unforgettable drive-to-dine experience. From a Michelin-starred tasting menu in the hills of Kent, to a rustic farm shop off the beaten path in the Midlands, these are perfect for a summer road trip.

Data analysed included TripAdvisor reviews, Michelin awards, eco-friendly credentials and ease of EV access, making these road-trips ideal for petrol and electric drivers.

With millions of Brits preparing for a summer staycation, the data highlights some of the UK’s best foodie destinations that remain under the radar, for now. With a mix of price points, from cosy rural tearooms to special-occasion venues, there’s something for every budget, taste, and journey.

The UK’s top secret foodie hotspots are:

1.       The Felin Fach Griffin, Brecon, Wales

2.       The Small Holding, Cranbrook, South East

3.       Manor Farm Catthorpe, Lutterworth, Midlands

4.       Osip, Bruton, South West

1. Felin Fach Griffin, Brecon

Topping the list is this award-winning countryside inn nestled between the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, blending rustic charm with a locally produced seasonal menu. With cosy interiors, log fires, walking trails, and nearby EV charge points, it’s an ideal culinary detour while in Wales.

2. The Small Holding, Cranbrook

A self-sustaining Michelin Green Star restaurant run by two brothers in Kent, this is a true farm-to-fork experience, growing much of its produce on-site. Guests are encouraged to wander the gardens before sitting down to a seasonal tasting menu. Royal Tunbridge Wells is a short drive away, and it’s accessible for EV travellers with over 20 charging points nearby.

3. Manor Farm Catthorpe, Lutterworth

This charming Midlands farm shop and tearoom makes for a perfect pitstop, offering home-cooked breakfasts, hearty lunches, and freshly baked cakes using produce from the surrounding land and farms. There’s free parking and over 20 EV chargers available nearby, making this peaceful spot a picturesque break for road trippers heading through the heart of England.

Beyond the top three, Osip in Burton, Somerset, offers no-menu, farm-to-table dining, while Chapters delivers seasonal, homegrown plates near the Wye Valley. The Garden Restaurant serves up local seafood in a 17th-century castle by the Antrim coast, and Interlude in Sussex forages from its own 240-acre estate. The Fat Lamb in the Yorkshire Dales serves comforting classics, while The Black Swan is known for its wild-foraged tasting menus. Finally, Grace & Savour in Solihull offers garden-grown ingredients in a historic walled setting.

A Kia spokesperson said: “We carried out this research to inspire summer adventures and highlight some of the incredible destinations people often miss on the map. With the UK’s growing EV infrastructure, scenic and sustainable road trips are more accessible than ever and that opens up a world of hidden food destinations for eco-conscious travellers.”
