Liz Saville Roberts to address crowds at Together Alliance’s march against the far-right

Today (Saturday 28 March) Plaid Cymru Westminster Leader, Liz Saville Roberts MP will deliver a speech at Together Alliance’s ‘March Against the Far Right’ in London.

The Together Alliance is a broad coalition of organisations, trade unions, political parties, community groups and various public figures formed to oppose the rise of the far-right.

The march will take place in central London, culminating in a rally with music and speeches. Organisers are expecting tens of thousands of participants.

Liz Saville Roberts MP will deliver a speech, representing Plaid Cymru. She said that as far-right politics gains ground, Plaid Cymru has shown in Wales that it can be “challenged and defeated” by standing firm in our principles. This comes following Plaid Cymru’s historic win in the Caerphilly by-election where the party beat Reform with a majority of 3,848 votes after a collapse in support for Labour.

The most recent YouGov poll for the Senedd election, published earlier this week, suggests that the by-election result could be replicated across Wales in May, with Plaid Cymru leading in a two-horse race with Reform UK. Ms Saville Roberts said that the Caerphilly by-election “solidified” the fact that, in Wales, “only Plaid Cymru can stop Reform”.

Speaking ahead of the event today, Liz Saville Roberts MP said:

“At a time when far-right politics is gaining ground, we have shown in Wales that it can be challenged and defeated by standing firm in our principles.

“With the Senedd election this May on the horizon, Plaid Cymru is proud to stand for inclusion and humanity. We stand firmly against racism and anti-migrant hatred in all its forms.

“The Caerphilly by-election solidified the fact that in Wales, Reform can be stopped if progressives unite behind Plaid Cymru. In May, we have an opportunity to replicate that across Wales.

“I am proud today to join progressives from across Parliament and civil society to say ‘enough is enough’ and call out the falsehoods peddled by the far right.”

  1. Plaid are racist and believe in exclusion. Underneath all the bull she comes up with Plaid have only one policy. To exclude from power,Public appointments and teaching staff, all non Welsh speakers.

  2. Plaid’s “principles”have got us in the situation we’re in now. They’ve been working hand in glove with Welsh Labour for years.
Voting for them would just condem us to more of the same rubbish.

  3. Rhodri Sion We’ve seen with the attempt top cancel elections in England, andthe introduction of 36 more snouts down the bay, along with closed lists and alleged PR that we’re entering a period of left wing dictatorship, thats not progressive to me,more regressive to the times when we did what we were told or else

  4. Lefties lying again, there’s no far right parties, they wouldn’t be allowed in our country. Just Lefties stirring hatred.

It’s a standard reply now,if you don’t follow plaid cymru you are a right wing farage apologist.

Just shows what little plaid have to offer when their only policy is stop reform.

Plaid getting in will be the death knell for Wales.

Trouble is I’ve seen nothing in any of the others to warrant an ❌.

Lots of flashy postings with no accountability as to where the money is coming from.

Like plaids NHS hubs they plan, there are several thousand vacancies they can’t fill in the NHS now so where are the extra staff to run these hubs coming from and the money to fund this fantasy project.

Sick of seeing Ron the con’s endless barrage of false promises, people are getting tired of their negative campaigning with stop reform as the bullet point on practically every post.
Living in plaids head reform are aye.

Right now I’d vote gwlad as they have no baggage as they are a new party and they are Welsh and focus on Wales and not reform

  5. There she is the waffling idiot …..

  6. Wynford Davies well where have you bin along that 27 yrs that you’ve not complain about till now,I’ll bet that you have voted labor in every time it’s just you don’t want Plaid Cymru running the Senedd .

  7. I find it difficult to support a political candidate whose personal styling feels unprofessional. In my view, unconventional hair colors lack the gravity and traditional decorum expected of a public official.

  8. Wow. Your dirty pink hair colour make you look so young it’s amazing. You should have a scarf to cover your neck rolls and wrinkles for a much better effect.

  9. Far left politics can be defeated if we stand on policies of law and order, freedom of speech, the protection of British culture and Christian values. To shut down the grooming gangs, stop the illegals raping children and growing the economy for all instead of getting into irreparable debt.
