Saffy's happy rehoming 2
  •  After a tough start to life, Saffy the Crossbreed has found her forever home after over 200 days in the care of Dogs Trust Cardiff.
  • With almost no exposure to the big, wide world, the Dogs Trust Cardiff team helped Saffy grow in confidence and helped her wonderful personality shine through.
  • Thanks to Postcode Lottery players who have raised over £30 million for Dogs Trust.

After over 200 days in the care of Dogs Trust Cardiff, the charity is celebrating the happy rehoming of Saffy the German Shepherd-Border Collie Cross, who, after a rough start in life, found her ‘paw-fect’ match with her adopter, Abigail.

Having arrived as a sheltered pooch with little exposure to the outside world, Saffy was initially very nervous, anxious, and afraid to meet new people. However, with time and patience, the Dogs Trust Cardiff team provided Saffy with the training she needed to feel more confident around new people and in new environments.

With patience and love, Saffy blossomed into an affectionate, clever girl ready for a new adventure. This became clear when she met Abigail, who fell head over heels for Saffy’s playful personality, giving her the second chance she deserved after over 200 days with the charity.

Saffy’s adopter, Abigail, said, “I’m grateful to the team at Dogs Trust Cardiff for all they did to help Saffy and for their continued support, but I’m even more grateful that her forever home is with me and her brother, Tommy.

“From being so nervous I couldn’t touch her during our meets to being the cheekiest girl who loves cuddles and adventures. I’m proud of her progress every day!”

Dogs Trust has been able to help dogs like Saffy thanks to the generous support of Postcode Lottery players who have raised over £30 million for the charity, helping care for over 125,000 dogs since funding began in 2014.

The charity is celebrating reaching this milestone fundraising total after 12 years of support which has helped provide essential daily care for dogs cared for at 21 rehoming centres across the UK. As well as helping dogs find a new home, funding from Postcode Lottery players has helped Dogs Trust’s dedicated teams including training, behaviour and welfare specialists, fostering and volunteer co-ordinators, and many more to help thousands of dogs find their forever homes.

Kim Davies, Manager at Dogs Trust Cardiff, said, “When Saffy arrived at Dogs Trust Cardiff, we knew she would need some patient, loving care to fully adjust to life in the big, wide world. Now she is starting her second chance, we couldn’t be happier for her, and it’s thanks to support from Postcode Lottery players who have raised such an incredible amount over the years, that we are able to continue care for dogs like Saffy. We couldn’t achieve what we do without you.”

Laura Chow, Head of Charities at Postcode Lottery said, “It’s amazing that players have raised over £30 million for Dogs Trust. This funding has transformed the lives of thousands of dogs just like Saffy, who are now happy and safe in their forever homes thanks to the Dogs Trust team. Their incredible work continues to give pups in need a second chance at the love and care they deserve.”
